a.k.a "Dr. Ashley"
Dr. Ashley bought Qualicum Beach Animal Hospital during the summer of 2015. Prior to that, she was working at a busy small animal practice in Courtenay BC. Dr. Ashley grew up on a farm in a small town located in the Okanagan region of BC, called Armstrong. Her dedication and love for animals started from a very young age – as a child she was known to bring home sick or injured animals, and it wouldn’t be unusual to see her packing around an old, crippled chicken, or saving the tadpoles from the pond as it dried up over summer. She still believes that every animal has a story to tell, and a lesson to teach. After finishing a Bachelor of Science (BSs.) with Honours, Dr. Ashley completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at WCVM in Saskatoon, from which she graduated with Distinction.
When she isn’t hard at work or researching new therapies for your pet over a cup of coffee, you may find Dr. Ashley knitting up a sweater, or out riding one of her two horses (Theodore and Ringo). She also really enjoys the great outdoors, and will often bring along her sketchbook when out on a hike or walk along a deserted beach. When at the animal hospital, her special interests lie in dermatology, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Ashley’s home is ruled by three crazy little dogs (Ted, Tiny and Wink), and two clever kitties (Darwin and Rosa). She has a very patient husband named Steve, who is a talented middle school teacher, loves to cook wonderful vegetarian meals and write music.
